Flexport alternative for tracking: you have to be their customer

Flexport built a genuinely good digital experience around freight forwarding, and customers who consolidate there get real benefit from it.

What Flexport does well

Booking, documentation, customs and visibility in one interface, with a level of design polish the industry generally lacks. If Flexport moves your freight, the tracking that comes with it is better than most standalone products.

The tie

It only works for their shipments. The moment you book directly with a carrier, use a local forwarder for one lane, or inherit a shipment from a supplier under their terms, that cargo is invisible in the platform.

Very few companies run all their volume through one forwarder. Rates, lane strengths and relationships push everyone toward a mix, and the mix is where visibility fragments.

Carrier neutral tracking

A neutral tool tracks by container number, bill of lading or booking reference regardless of who arranged the shipment. Your Flexport containers, your direct bookings and your supplier’s nominated forwarder all appear in the same list with the same vocabulary.

That is the whole argument. Not that Flexport visibility is weak, but that it stops at the edge of their book of business, and your problems do not.
